Deputies praised for lifesaving talk with fugitive under Mason County bridge

A wanted man threatened to jump off a Mason County bridge before deputies stepped in to help.

MASON COUNTY, Wash. — Two Mason County deputies will be considered for a county lifesaving award for their actions Monday during the arrest of a fugitive.

The Department of Corrections said David Williford removed his ankle monitor last week.

He was under state supervision following a 13-month sentence for a 2024 Mason County incest conviction. Williford was released April 29 from the county jail.
