Crews mop up brush fire that threatened structures in Thurston County

Fire officials determined the brush fire was human-caused.

THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — Crews are mopping up a brush fire that broke out near Shermer Lane in Thurston County on Thursday afternoon. 

The public is advised to avoid the area if possible. 

The fire, which was “wind-driven,” burned between 3 and 5 acres, according to East Olympia Fire District 6. Several structures and vehicles were threatened, but they were not damaged. No injuries were reported.

Fire officials determined the fire was human-caused.

Crews are checking for hot spots and starting to mop up the remains.
