Copper thieves disrupt light rail service for second time in less than a week

Train service was disrupted for the second time in less than a week after wire thieves struck in Redmond.

REDMOND, Wash. — Train service on the eastside was disrupted for the second time in less than a week Tuesday due to the work of copper thieves, according to the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO).

Morning train service resumed Wednesday morning, but was shut down for hours the previous day after crews discovered damage at one of the stations. Officials canceled service between the Belred Station and downtown Redmond because of the damage. While the closure was in place, passengers took buses instead.
