OLYMPIA, Wash. — Congress approved a $3.2 billion budget for the cleanup of the Hanford Site in Washington state on Thursday.

According to the Washington Department of Ecology, once it is signed by the president, the site will receive the $3.2 billion for the 2026 fiscal year, which is a $200 million increase from the last two years.

The Department of Ecology said fully cleaning up the contamination at the site is expected to take decades.
