A 40-year-old woman drowned paddleboarding and a 17-year-old died hiking, leading officials to remind recreators about proper safety gear.
SKAMANIA COUNTY, Wash. — First responders are reminding people headed to cool off to make sure they’re fully prepared for the conditions after two people died while recreating this past weekend.
One woman fell off a paddleboard in the Columbia River. The other, a teen from Happy Valley, fell off a trail in Skamania County.
Authorities say the 40-year-old woman fell off her paddleboard and disappeared under the water. A Skamania County dive team later found her in 15 feet of water, about 150 yards
