Cleanup continues in Skagit County after record flooding with more heavy rain in the forecast.
BURLINGTON, Wash. — Cleanup efforts continued across Skagit County after last week’s record flooding, even as forecasters warned another round of heavy rain could push rivers higher again.
The Skagit River was at about 36 feet Tuesday, roughly 2 feet below its peak of just under 38 feet Friday, but officials said levels are expected to rise again. The river flooded roads and neighborhoods last week, setting records and prompting activation of the National Guard. At least nine people were rescued over two days in the county.
