City of Pacific working to strengthen flood retainment barriers following breach

Crews in Pacific are repairing and strengthening flood retainment barriers following a breach early Tuesday morning that caused flooding in nearby neighborhoods.

PACIFIC, Wash. — Crews in the city of Pacific are working to reinforce flood containment walls as the White River is again expected to spill over its banks. Two days ago a flood barrier failed, sending water into nearby neighborhoods.

The breach occurred early Tuesday morning after days of high water strained the system. Mayor Vic Kave said the failure was not caused by fast-moving floodwaters but by prolonged pressure from water pooling against the barrier.
