The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office arrested an 18-year-old suspected of sparking the 2024 Balsam Root Fire near Wenatchee with a firework.
WENATCHEE, Wash. — An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection to a wildfire in North Wenatchee last summer.
The Chelan County Sheriff’s Office believes he intentionally lit a mortar-style firework, which sparked the wildfire, according to Sheriff Mike Morrison.
KING 5 is not naming the suspect as he has not been officially charged in court.
On July 4, 2024, a wildfire – dubbed by authorities as the Balsam Root Fire – started near Horse Lake Road in Wenatchee.
