Chehalis apartment fire injures one, forces 22 Residents to evacuate

CHEHALIS, Wash. — An early-morning apartment fire at the Vintage Apartments in Chehalis left one person injured and forced more than 20 residents to evacuate.

Fire crews responded to the 1500 block of National Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m. and contained the flames to a single unit, though several neighboring apartments sustained smoke and water damage, with 22 occupants safely evacuated.

The American Red Cross Northwest Region is opening a shelter at 2 p.m. in the Vintage Apartments Community Room for displaced residents to gather and receive assistance. The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
