Cantwell tours ‘Silicon Valley of Space’ as Artemis II launch nears

Over 40 local companies helped with the Artemis II mission, scheduled to launch April 1.

REDMOND, Wash. — Two days before NASA’s first crewed lunar mission in more than 50 years, U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell toured Washington aerospace facilities Monday to highlight the state’s growing role in space exploration.

Cantwell, ranking member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, visited Karman Space & Defense in Mukilteo and L3Harris subsidiary Aerojet Rocketdyne in Redmond — two of 41 Washington companies supplying components for the Artemis II mission set to launch Wednesday.
