Boeing firefighters picket outside of Renton facility after company locks them out amid contract negotiations

The firefighters employed by the company say they’re seeking raises of up to 50% to be on the level with firefighters who work for cities where plants are located.

SEATTLE — Boeing has locked out its private force of firefighters who protect its aircraft-manufacturing plants in the Seattle area and brought in replacements after the latest round of negotiations with the firefighters’ union failed to deliver an agreement on wages.

Union firefighters have been picketing outside the company’s Renton facility since their contract expired at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, May 4.
