Body found after search for man who went missing in Columbia River

A man was swimming in the river to “recover some property that was in deeper water,” Vancouver Fire said in an update Monday afternoon.

VANCOUVER, Wash. — Divers discovered a body shortly after the Vancouver Fire Department and the U.S Coast Guard suspended the search for a 52-year-old man who did not resurface after swimming in the Columbia River on Sunday night.

VFD had previously said that the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team would be getting involved in the search Monday evening to try and recover the body. They were the ones to discover the body, which has yet to be positively identified.
