BELLEVUE, Wash. — Bellevue police are warning young adults about a sophisticated scam that has already cost local victims hundreds of thousands of dollars — more than $1 million in one case.

While fraudsters often target older adults, police say this scheme specifically targets people in their 20s and 30s. Since December, at least four victims in that age group have been tricked into wiring large sums of money to scammers posing as government or law enforcement officials.
