While the forecast is slightly premature, the setup is typical for a wet and windy stretch heading into the weekend of Oct. 25.
SEATTLE — A mid-latitude low pressure system forming over the Pacific could steer an atmospheric river toward western Washington late next week, bringing rain, gusty winds, and mountain snow to the region.
The Climate Prediction Center’s latest outlook shows a moderate chance of above-average rainfall stretching from western Washington down through California. While the strongest impacts are expected farther south, forecasters say the Cascade Mountains could see above-average snowfall and coastal wind gusts of 30 mph or more.
