At least 6 Seattle public schools shelter in place after reported ICE activity

At least six schools went into shelter-in-place protocol after reports of nearby Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity on Tuesday.

SEATTLE — Several schools in Seattle were under shelter-in-place protocol Tuesday due to reports of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) activity in the area, according to Seattle Public Schools. 

The impacted schools included Aki Kurose Middle School, Beacon Hill International, Cleveland STEM High School, Dearborn Park International, Maple Elementary and Mercer International Middle School.

The district said shelter-in-place is common practice when any law enforcement activity is taking place in the vicinity.
