All northbound lanes of SR 99 near East Marginal Way blocked due to large fire burning nearby

Traffic is being diverted to the Michigan Street exit, according to WSDOT. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and expect delays.

SEATTLE — A large fire burning near Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood has shut down all northbound lanes of state Route 99.

According to the Washington State Department of Transportation, the fire is burning near the north end of the First Avenue Bridge and East Marginal Way.

Vehicles on the bridge were seen turning around around 5 p.m. Oncoming traffic is being diverted to the Michigan Street exit, according to WSDOT. Crews were still on the scene battling the flames after 10 p.m. Tuesday.
