Alaska Airlines bets big on Boeing to take Seattle global

A record aircraft order could give western Washington travelers new nonstop routes to Europe and Asia by the end of the decade.

SEATTLE — Applause filled Boeing’s Delivery Center on Wednesday, not just for a gleaming new airplane, but for a deal Alaska Airlines says will reshape how Seattle connects to the world.

“We couldn’t be happier to be here with Boeing and with the Secretary to announce the new livery and largest order of 737 aircraft with Boeing,” said Shane Tackette, the CFO of Alaska Airlines.
