7.5-mile back-up on SB I-5 after crashes in Everett

EVERETT, Wash. — All lanes of southbound Interstate 5 reopened in Everett after crashes Monday morning.

The crashes happened just north of Marine View Drive at milepost 195 just before 7 a.m. There were two multi-vehicle collisions blocking the roadway, according to Washington State Patrol Trooper Kelsey Harding.

The lanes reopened just before 9 a.m.

Lanes were expected to close intermittently as tow trucks arrived to remove the vehicles, Harding said.

As of 8 a.m., the back-up had reached 7.5 miles long. Drivers are urged to avoid the area and take alternate routes.
