5 key conflicts to watch in Seattle's budget battle

Mayor Bruce Harrell released his proposed $7.4 billion, 2023-2024 budget on Sept. 27. It reflects promises Harrell has made around policing and public safety, affordable housing, encampment clearing, basic city services, supporting small businesses and much more.

The budget is now in the city council’s hands. Last week, council members held four days of budget hearings to work through the mayor’s proposal and begin hashing out their priorities.
