Anna Hints, the Estonian director behind acclaimed documentary “Smoke Sauna Sisterhood,” is unleashing “Black Hairy Beast,” a folk story and body horror musical “inspired by a personal love story,” she revealed to Variety.
“At its core, the film is about love set against the expectations and prejudices of culture, gender roles, othering and xenophobia. It’s told through the metaphors of body transformations and re-imagining of the musical genre, but not by conforming to it.”
