Parker Posey Was ‘Gaslit’ Into Thinking She ‘Wasn’t Viable’ For Major Hollywood Movies After the Indie Scene Was ‘Co-opted By the Studio System’: ‘It Was Such a Head Trip’

Parker Posey needed to prove herself all over again when making the jump from indie films to Hollywood productions.

During a recent appearance on the “Smartless” podcast, Posey, who started her career in celebrated independent films like “Party Girl, “Dazed and Confused” and “Basquiat,” was asked if she still considers herself the “indie queen.” Posey answered that once she began being recognized in places “as cool as New York City,” she knew her indie cred was dwindling.
