KeyArena Hosts Modest Mouse with Brand New and At the Drive-In Reunites

Some combos just make sense: Peanut butter and jelly, milk and cookies, ketchup and mustard,  Modest Mouse and Brand New. The two acclaimed rock bands are teaming up for a co-headlining affair at KeyArena on July 30. The concert won’t feature any opening acts as each band will play a full set.

Modest Mouse tours in support of last year’s Strangers to Ourselves, while the ever enigmatic Brand New has hinted that a new album may be coming this year after not releasing a record since 2009’s (heavily Modest Mouse-influenced) Daisy. And while Brand New typically sticks to selling out smaller venues (usually Showbox SoDo when in Seattle), the group’s superb set in Memorial Stadium at Bumbershoot 2015 showcased its ability to captivate a huge crowd.

Tickets for Modest Mouse and Brand New at KeyArena go on sale this Friday, January 29 at noon on ticketmaster.com[1]. Tickets range from $32 to $52.

At the Drive-In’s 2000 album Relationship of Command somehow perennially sounds like it’s from 10 years in the future. The Texas post-hardcore quintet leaped ahead on the modern rock evolutionary scale, and no one’s caught up yet. After breaking up in 2001 (and subsequently forming the Mars Volta and Sparta), the group reunited briefly in 2012 but never made it up to the Northwest. Seattle fans finally get their chance to see At the Drive-In’s legendarily fierce live energy this summer when the band reforms once more and heads to Showbox SoDo on June 6.

Tickets for At the Drive-In go on sale this Friday, January 29 at 10am via axs.com[3]. Tickets are $40.
