‘How to Train Your Dragon’ Flies to No. 1 at China Box Office

Universal’s live-action remake “How to Train Your Dragon” took flight at the top of the China box office over the June 13–15 weekend, opening with RMB79.7 million ($11.1 million), according to Artisan Gateway.

This included $1.6 million on Imax screens, representing 15% of the opening weekend total.

After two weeks at No. 1, Paramount’s “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning” dropped to second place with $4.7 million. The action franchise installment has now accumulated $55.8 million in China, making it one of the top-performing Hollywood imports of the year so far.
