For many of the attendees at this year’s Girls Just Wanna Weekend festival in Mexico, one of the highlights of the four-day gathering came when founder Brandi Carlile stepped out to join co-headliner the Chicks for what can rightly be called one of the signature songs of the 21st century, “Not Ready to Make Nice.” While the duet might have happened under any circumstance where these two artists were set to join forces, it felt especially trenchant, in these tropical climes, given the topical climate back home.
