Players of Epic Games‘ “Fortnite” who were “charged for unwanted purchases while playing the game” will be receiving more than $126 million in refunds from the Federal Trade Commission.
The government agency announced the new round of refunds Wednesday, which brings the total amount that the FTC has issued to consumers related to its now-settled case against Epic regarding its billing practices to nearly $200 million. In December 2022, Epic announced it had agreed to pay $245 million to settle the FTC’s accusations that the gaming company used “deceptive practices to trick players into making unwanted purchases.”
