Thur, Sept 8Courtney Marie Andrews: Honest Life Release Show[2]At 25, Seattle’s Courtney Marie Andrews is already a seasoned veteran of the singer-songwriter scene. The Arizona native started touring when she was just 16 and has served as a backup singer for acts ranging from Jimmy Eat World to Damien Jurado. After tour burnout led her to retreat to rural Washington to tend bar, she returns with a new album of tender, heartstring-pulling songs inspired by those times, Honest Life. Tractor Tavern, $10–$12
Sat, Sept 10Live Wire with Luke Burbank[3]Anchored by the inviting personality of host (and former long-time Seattleite) Luke Burbank, the last three years have seen Portland-based Live Wire Radio become public radio fastest growing entertainment program. Recorded in front of a live audience, episodes feature a mix of interviews, standup, music, and storytelling for a creating a modern version of a variety show. Burbank returns to Seattle to put on a star-studded edition of Live Wire featuring The Oatmeal cartoonist Matthew Inman, brilliant comedian/man of a thousand characters Paul F. Thomkins, co-host of BuzzFeed’s Another Round podcast Heben Nigatu, and music from bluegrass trio the Devil Makes Three. Neptune Theatre, $19–$34
Sept 9–19Cinerama 70mm Film Festival[4]Film buffs love their 70mm movies. It’s fairly simple to see why: the larger format showcases crisper, brighter, more detailed images. The Cinerama 70mm Film Festival features 17 movies including classics like Lawrence of Arabia, Apocalypse Now, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Spartacus, The Sound of Music, and Patton, plus newer fare including Interstellar, The Master, and The Hateful Eight. After 2016 delivered one of the weakest summer movie seasons ever, it’ll be nice to see some actual quality on the big screen once again. Cinerama, $15

But through documents and photograph, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum–produced touring exhibit Nazi Persecution of Homosexuals, 1933–1945 explores the Nazis’ particularly horrific systematic attacks against European gays, which resulted in the death of thousands.
