Report: Sheryl Crow saw Lance Armstrong dope

Lance Armstrong openly doped in front of then-girlfriend Sheryl Crow, according to a new book written by two Wall Street Journal reporters.

From a New York Daily News[1] report on the soon-to-be-published book:

“Rather than try to hide the transfusion from her, Armstrong was completely open about it,” the authors write. “He trusted that Crow would have no desire to tell the press or anyone else about the team’s doping program. He explained that it was simply part of the sport – that all cyclists were doing the same thing.”

According to the report, Crow cooperated with Food and Drug Administration criminal investigator Jeff Novitzky during his investigation of Armstrong in 2011. She was just one of many former friends and teammates of Armstrong to testify against him before his downfall.

The disgraced cyclist admitted to doping in an interview with Oprah earlier this year after a US Anti-Doping Agency report detailed evidence about his doping throughout his career. He was also stripped of his Tour de France titles and Olympic medal.

Crow and Armstrong were briefly engaged before splitting up in 2006.

The book about Armstrong, Wheelmen: Lance Armstrong, the Tour de France, and the Greatest Sports Conspiracy Ever[2], will be on shelves next week.
