'Alarming': Gun violence in King County surpasses 2020 levels with more homicides, shots fired

King County officials are calling the recent spike in gun violence “alarming” after a new report found the total amount of fatal shootings in the first nine months of the year has surpassed the amount for all of 2020.

The King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office released their quarterly shots fired report on Wednesday, finding that 356 people have been victims of gun violence since the beginning of the year in King County. There have been a total of 1,036 shots fired incidents in King County, up 48% from the historical four-year average.
