A Freeze Warning is in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. EDT Sunday for central Maine, with temperatures as low as 29 degrees. Frost Advisories cover southern and coastal Maine, southern New Hampshire and Downeast Maine.
The National Weather Service offices in Gray and Caribou issued the alerts. Both are timed for Sunday morning.
Freeze Warning: Lewiston and Auburn Area
The warning runs from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. EDT Sunday.
It covers Central Interior Cumberland and Androscoggin counties, with lows as low as 29 degrees.
Cities include Lewiston, Auburn, Gray, Gorham, North Windham, New Gloucester, Sabattus, Turner and Livermore Falls.
Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops and sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may be damaged.
Frost Advisory: Southern Maine and Southern New Hampshire
NWS Gray’s advisory runs from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. EDT Sunday, with temperatures as low as 32 degrees.
In Maine, it covers Kennebec, Interior and Coastal Waldo, Coastal York, Coastal Cumberland, Sagadahoc, Lincoln and Knox counties.
In New Hampshire, it covers Strafford, Eastern Hillsborough and Interior Rockingham counties.
Cities include Portland, Augusta, Waterville, Brunswick, Bath, Rockland, Camden, Belfast, Biddeford, Saco, Kittery, Dover, Manchester, Nashua, Derry and Exeter.
NWS Gray noted that the growing season is still active in many places, and that freezes have already started.
Frost Advisory: Downeast Maine
NWS Caribou’s advisory runs from midnight tonight to 8 a.m. EDT Sunday, with lows in the lower 30s.
It covers Interior and Coastal Hancock County and Central and Coastal Washington County.
Cities include Ellsworth, Bar Harbor, Bucksport, Castine, Machias, Calais and Eastport.
