The NWS Riverton office has the warning in effect from 2 AM to 9 AM MDT Wednesday for Jackson Hole, Star Valley, South Lincoln County and the Upper Green River Basin and its foothills.
Most of the warning area should see sub-freezing lows of 26 to 32 degrees, but isolated cold-prone spots could drop to 22 to 25 degrees. Jackson, Pinedale, Afton, Alpine, Big Piney, Kemmerer, Cokeville, La Barge, Thayne, Star Valley Ranch and Farson are all included.

Cold air naturally pools in low-lying terrain like Jackson Hole and the Upper Green River Basin on clear, calm nights, making these areas some of the first in the state to see hard freezes each year.
What It Means for Gardens and Outdoor Plumbing
Frost and freeze conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation still in the ground this late in the growing season. Unprotected outdoor plumbing is also at risk of damage once temperatures drop below freezing for several hours overnight.
How to Protect Tender Plants
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold, such as covering garden beds or bringing potted plants indoors before temperatures drop after midnight.
Anyone with exposed outdoor faucets, hoses or irrigation lines should also plan to drain or insulate them ahead of the freeze.
