Michigan Issues Emergency Measles Vaccine Warning for 7 Counties

If you are traveling to Michigan with a baby under one year old, state health officials want you to act before your trip.

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) issued an emergency recommendation in April requiring infants ages 6 to 11 months to receive an accelerated first dose of the MMR vaccine if they live in — or plan to travel to — affected counties in southeast Michigan.

Which Counties Are Affected

The seven counties named in the advisory are Washtenaw, Monroe, Wayne, Oakland, Jackson, Livingston and Lenawee. Wayne County includes Detroit. Oakland County borders it to the north. Together, these counties cover one of the
