A suspected impaired driver died after crashing into a utility pole during a police pursuit in Kent, authorities say.
KENT, Wash. — A suspected impaired driver died after a collision with a utility pole following a police pursuit in Kent on Saturday night, according to authorities.
At around 9:21 p.m., a Kent police officer spotted a driver believed to be under the influence in the city’s downtown area and attempted to pull the vehicle over. The driver did not stop and instead accelerated, heading north on Washington Avenue as the officer followed.
Police said the vehicle later went out of control at the intersection
