SEATTLE — Emergency crews responded Tuesday to a natural gas leak in South Seattle’s Columbia City neighborhood, prompting evacuations and disruptions to light rail service, authorities said.
The Seattle Fire Department (SFD) said crews were dispatched to the 5000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South, where responders confirmed an exterior natural gas leak near a building under construction. As a precaution, officials began evacuating nearby buildings while crews worked to secure the area.
