In a unanimous vote, the city council approved two pieces of legislation tied to Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson’s effort to open 1,000 shelter units by the end of 2026.
SEATTLE — The Seattle City Council unanimously passed two pieces of legislation Tuesday addressing the city’s response to homelessness.
CB 121184, which the council passed unanimously, gives the city’s director of Finance and Administrative Services the authority to sign leases for land used for transitional encampments, or tiny home villages.
Seattle City Councilmember Daniel Strauss said that while more work remains, the legislation was “common sense” and removes a barrier to expanding shelter.
