A retired Washington nurse’s dream trip to Europe turned into a nightmare after a fall in Turkey left her hospitalized, injured, and struggling to get home.
İSTANBUL, Türkiye — After spending more than 30 years caring for others, a retired Washington state nurse is now in desperate need of care herself — stranded and bedridden in a hospital thousands of miles from home.
Dionetta Hudzinski of Yakima, was on her way to Rome last Thursday to celebrate Easter at the Vatican. During a layover in Istanbul, Turkey, her dream trip suddenly turned into what she described as “the worst nightmare you could ever imagine.”
