SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — Four Eastern Washington sheriffs have filed a legal challenge to a new state law that tightens requirements for law enforcement leaders and allows the state to force the removal of sheriffs who fail to meet those standards.
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office says Spokane County Sheriff John Nowels, Pend Oreille County Sheriff Glenn Blakeslee, Stevens County Sheriff Brad Manke, and Ferry County Sheriff Ray Maycumber filed a complaint with the Pend Oreille County Superior Court on
