A stretch of Interstate 5 in Pierce County will shut down this weekend as crews demolish a bridge near Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
DUPONT, Wash. — Interstate 5 will fully shut down in Pierce County over the weekend so construction crews can demolish an old bridge.
The closure begins Friday night to allow demolition of the old Steilacoom-DuPont Road Bridge in DuPont.
The new Steilacoom-DuPont Bridge, which opened March 22, is larger than its predecessor and designed to improve traffic flow into the entrance of Joint Base Lewis McChord.
