SEATTLE — Seattle city councilmembers are taking a closer look at how to expand shelter across the city, weeks after Mayor Katie Wilson announced a plan to bring 1,000 people indoors this year.

At a City Hall committee meeting Wednesday, councilmembers met with service providers to discuss how to scale up shelter more quickly including building larger sites, speeding up approvals and allowing the city to directly lease property to open shelters faster.
