Seattle’s new cross-lake light rail faces first Monday commute

After a weekend of curiosity rides, the line linking Seattle to the Eastside began revealing how it fits, if at all, into daily routines. Early signs suggest many commuters aren’t abandoning their cars entirely. Instead, they’re adapting.

At stations like Mercer Island and South Bellevue, parking garages filled quickly, with drivers leaving their vehicles behind and boarding trains to complete the trip across Lake Washington.
