Passenger hailed as hero after stopping Metro bus when driver had medical emergency

A Seattle bus passenger is being hailed as a hero after steering a Metro bus to safety when the driver suffered a medical emergency.

SEATTLE — A King County Metro passenger is being called a hero after stepping in to stop a bus when the driver suffered a medical emergency in North Seattle last week.

Ernie Makinson, 64, was sitting near the back of the Metro bus when it suddenly began side-swiping multiple parked cars along Greenwood Avenue North. As passengers panicked, Makinson ran to the front, where he saw the driver unresponsive.
