Gas tops $5 in Washington. One store offers an incentive for drivers to fill up

SEATTLE — Gas prices in Washington are topping $5 per gallon, about a dollar higher than a month ago, forcing drivers to change how they travel and spend as costs climb across the state.

AAA reports the national average price for a gallon of regular gas is $3.84, while diesel averages $5.07. In Washington, prices are highest in western Washington, with drivers in the Seattle area paying more than anyone else in the state.
