NEWHALEM, Wash. — State Route 20 is blocked in both directions at Diablo Lake due to a large rockfall on the roadway.
The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) first alerted the public to the closure Tuesday evening and said Wednesday that the closure is expected to be “lengthy.”
The road is closed at milepost 130, which is near the Colonial Creek Campground. WSDOT said cars can turn around at the campground.
Photos shared from WSDOT show large rocks and debris covering the roadway. Some of the rocks measure over 200 feet long, according to the agency.
