Claim: Washington DOL left ‘back door’ security flaw open for years that let identity thieves change addresses, order licenses in bulk to one location

CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — A Washington man has filed a tort claim alleging the Washington State Department of Licensing left a security “back door” in its License eXpress system for years, exposing driver’s license data and fueling widespread identity theft.

William Black filed the claim in anticipation of a class-action complaint against the Department of Licensing, according to the filing dated Tuesday.
