1st Ave S Bridge to close northbound for 3 days starting Monday for emergency repairs

State Route 99’s northbound lanes will close for three days starting March 9 for emergency repairs after inspectors found cracks in 1st Avenue S bridge steel deck.

SEATTLE — All northbound lanes of state Route 99 at the First Avenue South bridge will close for three days beginning 5 a.m. Monday for emergency repairs. 

The closure comes after Washington State Department of Transportation inspectors discovered cracks in the bridge’s steel deck grates on Feb. 18 and shut down the right two northbound lanes for further inspection. Those lanes remain closed.
