JEFFERSON COUNTY, Wash. — Crews have recovered the body of a 21-year-old man who went missing after his kayak overturned on Hood Canal late Friday night, according to his family.
The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said the body of 21-year-old Ashton Johnston was recovered Sunday afternoon with help from Fish and Wildlife officers.
Johnston and a friend were in a two-person kayak when it overturned near Hazel Point on Friday. Johnston’s friend made it to shore and called 911, but Johnston did not.
