Heavy Snow and Blizzard Warnings Issued for New York and Connecticut

A powerful winter storm is forecast to impact New York and Connecticut beginning Sunday morning, prompting the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue both Winter Storm and Blizzard Warnings across large portions of the region.

Forecasters say snow will spread into the area early Sunday, intensify throughout the day, and continue through Monday evening, bringing the potential for widespread disruption.

Blizzard Warnings are in effect for New York City, Long Island, southern Westchester County, and much of southern Connecticut. These warnings indicate that sustained strong winds combined with falling snow are expected to reduce visibility to less than a quarter mile for extended periods.
