Washington State’s Supreme Court allows families’ lawsuit against Amazon to proceed, examining if the company’s sales practices are linked to suicide deaths.

The Washington Supreme Court ruled unanimously Thursday that a lawsuit against Amazon, brought by families who lost loved ones to suicide after ingesting sodium nitrite, can move forward, rejecting arguments that the case should be dismissed before trial.
Twenty-eight families have filed lawsuits against Amazon, alleging the company is responsible for the suicide deaths of their teenage and adult children who ingested sodium nitrite bought through the site.
