Shelter-in-place issued after car crash leads to gas leak in Puyallup

A Puyallup neighborhood is under a shelter-in-place order after a car crash led to a gas leak.

PUYALLUP, Wash. — Residents in a Puyallup neighborhood are under a shelter-in-place order Saturday following a crash that damaged a gas meter and caused an active gas leak.

A vehicle driven by an elderly man crashed into a garage in the 4000 block of 22nd Street SE, striking and damaging the gas meter, according to Central Pierce Fire & Rescue.

Puyallup Police say the driver suffered a medical emergency and was transported to a hospital as a precaution. No one inside the home was injured.
