Protesters block traffic in Capitol Hill, march on Federal Building

The Seattle Police Department said up to 3,000 people gathered at the Henry M. Jackson Federal Building in downtown Seattle.

SEATTLE — A large demonstration shut down traffic Saturday at the intersection of Broadway and East Pine Street in Capitol Hill before protesters marched on downtown’s Henry M. Jackson Federal Building.

The Seattle Department of Transportation advised drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes as the crowd moved westbound on East Pine Street. A KING 5 reporter on the scene initially estimated well over 1,000 people gathered at the Capitol Hill intersection.
