Rally on Seattle’s Beacon Hill honors Minnesota nurse killed by federal agents

Mourners in Seattle gathered outside of the VA hospital on Tuesday to honor Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse fatally shot by federal immigration officers.

SEATTLE — Days after the fatal shooting of Alex Pretti by federal immigration officers in Minneapolis, grief and anger converged Tuesday evening outside the Department of Veterans Affairs hospital on Seattle’s Beacon Hill. Mourners gathered for a rally and candlelight vigil honoring the 37-year-old ICU nurse.

Pretti, who worked at a VA hospital in Minneapolis, was remembered by colleagues, veterans and community members as a kind, dedicated caregiver whose death has raised urgent questions about the use of force by federal authorities.
